WATER BUFFALO HORN

As Europe's foremost importers of quality Water Buffalo Horn, we carry a huge, diverse, quality stock, enabling us to cater to a wide variety of niche market requirements. We can cater for any requirement, from a single horn to a container load. Stock is held as solid tips, whole horns, hollows, plates ( scales ), strips and rollers (dowels). Whilst the main demand is for "stickmaking" there are few uses we haven't heard of or catered for. The main categories of Buffalo horn as a raw material are listed below. If you perhaps require material for something a little different, drop us an E mail and we shall be glad to assist.

Grade A Buffalo Horn tips

Grade A Buffalo Horn tips

Good regular crescent shaped horns,"in plane", well proportioned, free from splits, cracks and other visible defects. Grade "A" horns will leave nothing to chance for the stickmaker as they are "just the job" for this type of work and have more than adequate proportions. These are carefully selected from bulk stock, lesser pieces being downgraded to Grade "B" material or "Craft" material.

Generously measured on the outer arc.

We have imported water buffalo horn tips in bulk since 1990.
From bulk stock, the longer the horn, the fewer we get, this has been particularly the case in the last 3 - 5 years, animals are no longer kept to "ripe old ages", and longer horns come from older animals - - so if they are "long" they are significantly more expensive.

Grade B Buffalo horn tips

Grade B Buffalo horn tips

Grade B's may be a little thinner and/ or a bit misshaped. They still have a good stick in them, but need a bit more work. We'd suggest that they are a feasible proposition if you've "found your touch" with buffalo or are prepared to spend a bit longer knocking it into shape with extra heat or clamping. The longer ones may often be "reversed" ( shanked on the nose end ).
