1.The Border Stickdressers Association
The BSDA have a detailed and information packed website that's well worth a look.
The Association itself centres it's activities in the Scottish / Northumbrian Border country where there is a long and expert tradition of horn stickdressing, taught at night classes in the winter months by experienced tutors.
Don't miss the main show of the season - Northumberland County Show, Bank holiday Monday at the end of May each year for a fine display of work.
2. Scottish Crookmakers Association
The Scottish Crookmakers Assoc have a long and distinguished history of promoting and encouraging the craft in Scotland, centred around the Borders but being supportive of interested groups and individuals further afield. The calendar highlight is the Border Shepherd's Show , the first Saturday in October at Yetholm, where a fine display of 250+ good, traditional , practical sticks are exhibited and all the current seasons winners compete for the Champion of Champions Trophy - well worth a visit if you are in any way interested in sticks!!!
3. The British Stickmakers Guild
The largest stickmaking organisation in the UK with several thousand members and publishing the "Stickmaker" magazine, quarterly.
4. Calleva Stickdressers
Calleva are a group of enthusiastic and progressive Stickdressers based in Berkshire, publishing their own excellent regular magazine on the craft and club activities and participating in shows and demonstrations on a very regular basis.
