Established in 1990 and then based in Glasgow as Hillend Horncraft, our aim was to source dependable quality Water Buffalo Horn from sustained domesticated sources in India and other parts of the Far East.
We achieved this with growing success during the 1990’s and added an increasing diversity to our stock and involvement in the trade.     

In 2000 we became the Hillend Horn Company Ltd, by then being firmly established in the supply of horn and antler as specialist craft materials and involved in the bulk acquisition and export of Scottish Red Deer Stag antler, a trade that we are still significantly involved in.       In July 2005 we relocated from Glasgow to Avoch on the Black Isle in the Scottish Highlands, renaming in the process and becoming the Highland Horn Company Ltd.

We now operate from a modern industrial unit in Alness, continuing our predominately mail order based business as before, whilst adding specialist client based sourcing and import of niche trade materials such as Damascus steel, Sambar stag antler, silver, nickel alloy & brass castings and spinnings.

We travel widely throughout the UK and Ireland each year, giving demonstrations of crookmaking techniques in Water Buffalo horn and selling related materials.      You can catch up with us at a few regular annual shows including The Galloway Country Fair (see links page), Northumberland County Show (Bank Holiday Monday, end of May each year) and the Border Shepherd’s Show (Yetholm, first Saturday in October).
